The purpose of this collection is to get some ideas. Apart from the location shots at the bottom of this page, the foto's themselves are not that important, they are purely meant to inspire ways we could work with images.

Methods for a flyer / poster: Drawing / tracing / copying / making collages + fragments + photographic cut outs?

Headshake.jpg Handshake.png

Inventing new routines includes looking at how people meet and approach / maybe en route we will develop some new templates for behaviour. Handshakes, greeting words / curses / ...

03fingers.png

Finnish rappers usually praise their own neighborhoods, although with a little less passion. However, where hip-hop is concerned, your telephone area code is nowadays important in Finland as well. People living in Tampere have even created a finger sign which symbolizes the numbers 03, the area code of Tampere, and resembles the different signs that American rappers have for east side and west side and for their crews. Doventekens.jpg

This is a belgian fr. keyboard scripted to translate letters to signs for deaf people -- some great signs / symbols can be found on http://www.signbank.org

Tekeningen.jpg

This image shows the same signs drawn by a deaf student.

Doorsnede.jpg

this drawing, or rather the whole layout of the info board could be a great model for a poster / flyer. Since Routes and Routiines is very much about mapping from a different perspective, visualising a querschnitt / doorsnede / view of the many layers of a location / situation seems very appropriate. I love how the info is grouped around the drawing, theout of propoportion bold and italic typo, the corny pastel teints and the many spelling mistakes

the figurative framing / suggestive silhouette implies a narrative beyond the directly visible

Metrobord.jpg

not to forget the beauty of simplicity

Plattegrond.jpg

The lay out of the stage settiinig for Lars von Triers Dogville. Beautiful mix of schematic scene and real life props and actors.

Footprintgold.jpg Budhafootstep.jpg

One of the more curious aspects of Buddhism is the tradition of Buddha footprints. Footprints are just one sign of the presence of the Buddha - the others being the bodhi tree, an umbrella, a throne, and the dharmachakra or wheel of the Law. Many temples have reproductions of the feet of buddha.. Tradition holds that the Buddha (Gotama), or an incarnation known as "the future buddha" (Metreya) left these to guide us to enlightenment. Since most of these footprints are the size of a bath-tub, the future buddha is apparently not someone to mess with. When found in nature, these relics are subjected to extreme scrutiny to insure they have all of the right signs, then they become places of worship. http://www.univie.ac.at/cga/art/footprints.html

TN Seppo-BackPack.jpg TN Seppo-Pena.jpg Personal Navigation for Indoor Environment

http://labe.felk.cvut.cz/~pelote/results/pena.htm

Research how to trace people in indoors emergency situations: "The accurate position of all crewmembers on a map gives a clear view of the situation to the operator. The exploring entities will know the positions of the others as well as their own and – above all – the accurate position makes it possible to map the environment. "

Ok, below are some pictures of locations for the first walks.

Doorgang.jpg

Locatie: Zaadstraat / Ninoofse steenweg this path through people gardens built inbetween new housing projects and the supermarkets on the ninoofsesteenweg will be topic of investigation. The path is not wide enough for two people with shopping lorries passing each other. Communication is necessary to figure out how to pass each other.

Troon.JPG

Lieu: jonction Rue Gray / Troon The bridge over Graystraat is interesting because it offers a widescreen view on many surrounding houses. The intyerior lives are like theaterplays. private screens / layered geographics / tunneling /

Sterren.jpg

At night stars are projected on the huge brick roof of the tunnel underneath Troon.

The cantina of the elderly peoples house is near the bridge, spying on th e crew is almost inevitable.
